On a cold winter day nine years ago, The Rasmus, (now one of Finland’s most respected bands), stepped on stage for the first time at their high school in the Finnish capital Helsinki. Never did these guys expect that nearly ten years later they would be receiving several gold and platinum records as well as several Finnish Grammy awards and a following of tens of thousands of enthusiastic fans.

At the sprouting age of sixteen, the four friends made a conscious conclusion that the music scene in Finland sucked and needed a change or at least a fresh approach.In 1996, The Rasmus released their debut album Peep. It did not take long
for the album sell gold. The timing was right for this new generation of
rock bands and The Rasmus took the listening public and critics by storm.
“We were just kids who were let loose on a playground”, singer Lauri
remembers.

Shortly after this, the band crawled back into the studio to record their second album Playboys. Yes, it also sold gold very quickly. By then, The Rasmus had established themselves as a household name in Finland. Soon after, The Rasmus received their first Finnish Grammy.

In 1999, The Rasmus, as energetic and productive as they are released their third album Hellofatester. The Single, Liquid, was voted, by both critics and fans as The Year’s Best Single.

The members

Lauri ylönen is the singer and the composer (one of the most appreciated in Finland today) of the band. My lyrics are always personal and every word has a meaning that reminds me of something that has happened”, he says.

The guitarist is Pauli Rantasalmi, but he has also been recognized as a producer (Producer of the year at the Finnish Grammy 2001). Aki Hakala joined the band in 1999 to play the drums. Before that, he was selling The Rasmus merchandise at their shows. And finaly, Eero Heinonen, who is definitely the calmest man in the band, plays the bass.

 of course money matters, but it’s still far from being the most important thing in life. if you don’t believe, try to imagine your life without everything, just with money…it would be sad and lonely. your pet, your family, your friends and your health are the most important things ‘cause they give us life! think about it…you will agree with me!

this is the most beautiful town in the world!…siriusly talkin! For who wants to go there, i recomend to visit Corcovado, Pão de açucar, Floresta da Tijuca, most part of the biches specialy Ipanema and if you like soccer, you can go see a match on Maracanã! good travel for evryone who wants to go there!!!!!!!!!

all my dad’s family is from belgrade and most part of them are still there. I’ve never been there but i will love to! I’ve already seen a lot of pictures of all the ex-yugoslavia but i still wonder how is the city like…and someday, in a not so distant future, i’ll go there and travel the hole country!

I love the night! I think that’s because what I like to do is better at night, like parties, or see scary movies, or just apriciate the moon and stuff. I also like to go in dansing places, things I just do at night.
